About failsafe requests
CervicalCheck aims to ensure that all recommendations requiring re-call or referral are appropriately followed up.
Abnormal follow up (Failsafe) is a communication sent by CervicalCheck to the woman and to the doctor with clinical responsibility when the woman fails to attend for:
- her recommended smear test (following an ‘inadequate’ or ‘not normal’ result) (click here to view a video demonstration)
- her recommended referral to colposcopy (click here to view a video demonstration)
- her recommended post–colposcopy discharge smear tests (click here to view a video demonstration)
Information provided by doctors is used to ensure that woman are being appropriately followed up.
Doctors should ensure that reasonable efforts (at least two recorded efforts) are made to contact the woman.
